This "First Original Palm Sculpture" carved in
the Late Summer of 1996
was a commission brought forth by the miniature tiki pendants and other Bone Productions' products of 1995.
"Rich Tiki" - is a commission by a friend of a friend,
later Good Friend, Rich Hiskey.
Who needed sculpture for his new backyard 'Japanise Landscaping'

Before CrazyAL knew what a Lono Tiki was, He knew his dad's letter opener was a tiki and a cool one from his childhood!
(probably a "Coco Joe's" product
which CrazyAL had maybe just learned about in 1995.)
Lono is the Hawaiian God of the Harvest,
so CrazyAL would come to find out years later.
Lono takes many forms such as a decorated 'Staff.'
However, Lono is now known most commonly in the 'Tiki Pop' world as a figure with diamond shaped eyes and a tall
segmented headdress.

As a classically trained artist,
(completing his Education at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena in 1992)
CrazyAL wanted to create something knew! yet draw on his childhood knowledge of Native American Art.

He was fascinated and intimidated by the palm tree bark,
so he left it on to create texture...
and Save Time! After all, by '96 Al was a
practicing commercial artist.
Taught well by the So.Cal Surf Band "The Swingin' Tikis," CrazyAL incorporated what he knew best of 'Tiki Pop Culture.'
"Surfing!"
A puka shell necklace with a carved "Big Wave" symbol pendant was added to this pretty traditional Lono design.

Seeing 30 Years! into the Future!?!
Like a 'good artist,' CrazyAL started numbering the "Tiki Studies" he was about to embark on...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
TIKI #1 !!

This was the last sighting of Tiki #1, Mother earth reciaimed it.
